Hi TBA, my 19 yr old daughter wants to travel to Costa Rica on her own and volunteer at an animal refuge, I am freaking out about her going. Do you know anything about that sort of travel thanks.

    • Hi Kylie! Definitely check out my recent article about worrying about your kids traveling here. You can post any specific questions in my travel forum & FAQ here. Thanks!

      Hi Kylie,

IIam 27. I just returned from a three week solo travel trip in Costa Rica. I spent two of the weeks at a sea turtle restoration project in Ostional. For the most part I felt pretty safe. Besides being a little nervous about poachers, I felt very safe at my station. The unsafest I felt was in Manual Antonio. The men there gave a lot of unwanted attention to me and a friend that I made on my travels. I was very surprised at how many solo travelers I met along the way. It’s an adventure and you be smart about what you do, but it was a wonderful experience. It was very empowering to know that I am capable of solo traveling!

If you have any questions about my trip, I would love to help.

      Best of luck,
      Abby

Love the article! And it’s so great to hear there are people promoting women traveling alone! I’ve traveled extensively on my own and have (99% of the time) felt safe almost everywhere. Your list is a great jumping point for any gal thinking about (or hesitating) heading out on her own.

A quieter, more design-forward side of Santorini 🤍

Stayed at @andronisconcept in Imerovigli and loved this take on Santorini luxury.

Think incredible caldera views, beautiful minimalist design, private pools, sunset dinners and that quiet, tucked-away feeling that makes it very hard to leave.

Definitely one to save if you’re planning a trip to Santorini and want something a little different from the classic Santorini experience.

In case you missed the memo, “beach day” has a slightly different definition in Europe.

Worth it every time though!
