    Hi,
    Really great article.
I have a question that I hope you could answer.
Both myself and my girlfriend are travelling to south east asia for 167 days ( 5 and a half months) and our budget is 10,000 euro (max). We have our flights booked and our vaccinations bought.
I’m wondering if you think this will be enough?
We won’t be partying just having a few beers every now and again and want to do as much tours and activities as our budget will allow.

10,000 Euros, huh? That’s enough to take a family of 5 & have 2,000 left over if you travel wisely.

I hear so many people say its not a enough and that its a shoestring budget. and the odd person saying thats more then enough. So hard to tell who to believe…

Depends how long you’re staying and how many places you go. $2000 per person is more than enough for 1 month if you stay in only a few places even if you splurge a bit. That’s $66 per day per person. If you stay at 5 star hotels, eat at tourist restaurants, travel by plane and taxis, then of course it’s not enough. Traveling solo is much easier because you can stay anywhere, if you have a family of 5 with kids, you might want to stay at a hotel or rent a house on airbnb, which is really cheap.
      Let’s say you get a nice house for $50 a day for a month, that’s $1500.
      $15 a day on food for 5 people, $2250
$10 a day per person for transportation, $1500
Which leaves $32 a day for activities, tourism, $4750
and that is overestimating, it’ll be probably be much cheaper
If you travel to other places and countries, add on to the transportation expenses, especially by plane. Train is a good way, and buses are cheap if you can handle a group of 5 with kids

Spending a year abroad sounds exciting… until you see the planning involved.

Flights, edits, contracts, itineraries — not to mention the admin of being a mom. I’m usually running everything at once, so having a laptop that can keep up makes a huge difference.

I’ve been using an AMD Ryzen AI–powered laptop to keep everything organized, run AI tools even when WiFi isn’t available, and work from wherever we happen to be in the world.

So I can finish what I need to do… and get back to what’s most important ❤️
