My daughter (15 now) would love to visit Dubai. I’m a little afraid, it seems so far away from California (Temecula)… Is it expensive? How much time did you allow to see sights there? Do they speak english there? Your pictures are awesome!

It’s incredibly safe and can definitely be done on a budget! My biggest bank account breaker was alcohol- cocktails could run $40 a piece! Obviously, that won’t be a concern for your daughter. 😉 Most people speak English since most people living there are from other countries. I was only there for 3 days and managed to see A LOT. A week would be a good amount of time to get a good feel for the city. She can stay in a hostel or inexpensive hotel and take the metro. The main areas are very walkable and taxis are fairly priced. Here’s a good resource for budget hotels/hostels: http://www.hostelworld.com/findabed.php/ChosenCity.Dubai/ChosenCountry.United-Arab-Emirates

  2. Wow! Looks like an out of this world trip in an exciting city 🙂 Dubai looks amazing!

It was one of the most unique places I’d ever been to! That’s for sure!

Spending a year abroad sounds exciting… until you see the planning involved.

Flights, edits, contracts, itineraries — not to mention the admin of being a mom. I’m usually running everything at once, so having a laptop that can keep up makes a huge difference.

I’ve been using an AMD Ryzen AI–powered laptop to keep everything organized, run AI tools even when WiFi isn’t available, and work from wherever we happen to be in the world.

So I can finish what I need to do… and get back to what’s most important ❤️
