Hi again! Could you speak to hiking Table Mountain before this itinerary if we start at 6:30am and take the cable car down (in the winter when hopefully it’s less crowded)? What makes Lion’s Head better for this itinerary if that’s the case? I know we’ll be wiped, but want to ensure we’ll have time to do it all. Also, is Lion’s Head any less of a weather issue than Table Mountain in terms of views/general conditions aside from the cable car shutting down? Thanks so much!

Hi Danielle! I can’t personally speak to hiking Table Mountain. I’ve actually never done it as I don’t think it’s worth the risk. You really need to follow weather warnings and how the different climates at different levels of the mountain are impacted. Once you live there and see how quickly the weather can shift and what the wind is like, I never wanted to risk it. You can research guided hikes — I don’t have a recommendation, but you can find private tours with an experienced guide to make sure you’re on the right path. And there are multiple ways to go up Table Mountain.

The hike I ALWAYS wanted to do was Devil’s Gorge — it’s a full-on full-day hike and there’s no guarantee that the cable car will be running once you get to the top. You can check it on their website though to see the last up and last down and then you’d be taking the cable car down. I don’t know if it’s running during covid, so you; ‘ll have to look into it.

Lion’s Head is not as impacted by the weather or as high, it’s pretty short – you can get up in around an hour to an hour and a half. A lot of locals will do it in the morning before work and though it’s short it’s quite strenuous. It is dangerous if you’re not experienced, or not wearing proper footwear. There are parts that are vertical and you have to climb on a chain to do parts of it. So you don’t want to go in inclement weather, but the wind won’t impact you as much as Table Mountain. Totally different ballpark!

      I hope that helps!

Costa Rica never disappoints when it comes to nature, but this trip was next-level. We took a private boat tour with @nolimitadventurescr and the kids are still talking about it. We spotted turtles gliding through the water, discovered remote beaches, and even squeezed in some tubing—pure magic for the little ones and the grown-ups alike.

We’re already counting the days until we come back. ✨ If you’re looking for a luxury family-friendly getaway in Costa Rica, this is your spot!

A huge thank you to @waldorfastoriacostarica for hosting us on this sunshine-soaked getaway!
